EDNA BUYS A DRESS (WITH FRINGE)

Beautiful sunny day

but very snappy atmosphere.

Soo Mich is the coldest

spot in the U.S. 2º below

by official report (radio).

I went to G.R. with

Henry. Did a little

shopping this A.M. Had

hair cut, shampoo +

wave $1.25 at Robin's Salon.

Also purchased (blue, black +

gray fringed) crepe dress

at Siegel's $2.00 and hand

bag $5.00. Went to hospital at

2:20 to see Jen. Found her sitting

in chair. Dr. Thompson told

her she could go home in a

couple of days.

Eric Johnson finished buzzing

wood. Alice got dinner for

men.

Edna has been shopping for a dress. On the first of the month she returned a dress she purchased from Wurzburgs because she didn't like the material. On this day, she buys a dress (with fringe) from Siegel's.

Siegel's on Monroe Street in downtown Grand Rapids

Edna doesn't strike me as the fringe-wearing type and she may have been equally surprised by her choice of fringe as she calls it out in parentheses. She seems to do that when she wants to emphasize something.

Her choice of a crepe dress with fringe makes me think there is a special occasion on the horizon. She is a rather practical woman who wouldn't purchase a fancy dress without good reason.

Jen is coming home soon. She has had a rather long stay at the hospital. This is good news for Edna and Henry. That will be short lived. Shortly after Jen arrives home, another family member will have a lengthy stay in the hospital.

1941 is off to a rough start for Edna and her family. The worse is yet to come. By the end of the year, the United States will be engaged in a world war.

I hope Edna gets to put that fancy dress to use.
