Morse went to Chicago to attend Coyne Electrical School. I found an advertisement about Coyne circa 1936 (see left). You can read the entire contents of the ad here: https://www.rfcafe.com/references/radio-craft/coyne-electrical-school-advertisement-radio-craft-june-1931.htm

The West Side YMCA complex in Chicago, where Morse took up lodging, helped young men and women, many of whom were recent immigrants, to assimilate, learn English, find jobs, and maintain a moral compass while living in the city. With dormitories for men and women, the West Side YMCA/YWCA also offered clean and safe lodging for hundreds of young people.

Today, the historic building has undergone major preservation and restoration efforts.
