HELEN GETS MARRIED

Beautiful Day.
Thinking of Helen + Red
nearly all day.
Suppose they were married
to-day some time.
Expecting them home
Sunday night.
I'm planning a reception
and supper for them Sun.
night.
Morse went to Lowell this
P.M. to do some Radio work.
Nice P.T.A. Meeting.
good attendance with lunch.
Discussion on "Honesty."
Unlike now, news and information in 1936 was not immediate so Edna had to suppose. She thinks of Helen and Red "nearly all day" and makes plans to celebrate when they return home on Sunday.
Edna does not say how she feels but as you read her words you know ...you feel right along with her.
The announcement of Red and Helen's marriage was noted twice in the November 23, 1936 edition of the Lowell Ledger. There was a congratulatory message in the Bowne Center news section and a more formal announcement in the Alto news section. The Johnsons were from Bowne Center. The Bryants were from Alto.

Also in that edition of the Lowell Ledger was a short item about the P.T.A. meeting Edna noted attending. What she did not explain in her journal was that she was the "general program chair." It was her reading on "Character Building" that resulted in a discussion about honesty.
Like Edna, I am anxiously awaiting the return of the newlyweds on Sunday.
