EDNA HELPS EDWINA. CLOTHES FREEZE ON THE LINE.

Bright Day. Cold Wind.

Clothes froze on line this A.M.

Helen did the washing.

I went over to Edwina's to help

her with the silo fillers. Morse

helped too - finished to-night.

Henry went o G.R. to-day.

Flynns took the kids to G.R.

Laundry in the 1930s was an all-day affair. I am uncertain what type of machine Edna had on the farm for doing her laundry, but I have included an image of a Maytag Washer from the 1930s.

I also found a movie, "Washing Day," from the 1940s showing women how to do their laundry efficiently with modern day machinery and practices. The film may have been what women in the 1930s, like Edna, hoped and dreamed of. I got tired just watching the woman in the film do her laundry. We have it much easier in 2020.
