EDNA HAS GUETS FOR DINNER

Cold - a little sunshine
Henry went to G.R.
Helen did the ironing.
Rosy and Dickie her for dinner.
85 eggs to-day.
I love this entry because it contains a sliver of my dad's life. Dickie (my dad) and his mom Rosy went to Johnson farm for dinner on January 16, 1936. My dad would have been just five years old.

Richard William Johnson was born on July 7, 1930 to James L.. Johnson (Edna and Henry's second child) and Rosetta (Rosy) Boughner Johnson.
My dad grew up in a house adjacent to the family farm along with his parents* and older brother Paul (b. June 28, 1928). So I imagine they often went to the farm for dinner. It's just fun to see it noted in her journal.
*Until his mom, Rosy, runs off with another man. More to come about that later.
