EDNA KILLS TWO ROOSTERS AND SHE IS VERY, VERY TIRED

Beautiful Day.

Henry returned from

Lansing this morn.

Helen and Red left for

Joliet Ill at 2 o'clock to be

the guests of his relatives

over night.

Busy getting ready for the

chicken supper to be served to the

Masonic Club of G.R.

Killed 2 roosters made biscuit

gravy.

64 masons + wives at

supper at 60¢ a plated.

Very very tired to-night.

Alice and kiddies here to-day.

Alice is janitor at L.A.S. Hall.

After a long day, I get all worked up about having to go to Kroger to buy a pre-cooked chicken and Bob Evan's mashed potatoes to heat up in the microwave for dinner.

What does Edna do? She kills two roosters and makes biscuit gravy. I just take the cover off of the chicken container and peel back the plastic on the potatoes before heating. Edna has to work a lot harder. Not only did she have to kill her dinner, she also had to contend with feathers and other things that I don't event want to think about.

Edna is "very, very tired" on this day in 1936. Her husband has been out of town. Her youngest daughter is getting married and spending more time with her finance's family than her own. She helped at the Chicken Dinner for the Masons at the Ladies Aid Society. Her grandkids were in town. Edna notes that her daughter Alice is the janitor at the Ladies Aid Hall and that the kiddies came to visit. I imagine that after the chicken dinner Alice had to clean the Hall so Edna, after an already long day, supervised her grandkids.

Of course she was very, very tired. She managed a very busy schedule and she killed two roosters.

I will never complain about a trip to Kroger again.
